2014 Presidents Cup Wrap-Up

Colorado Soccer Association 2014 Presidents Cup Wrap-Up

Final matches of the 2014 Colorado Soccer Association Presidents Cup competition were held Sunday, April 27th at the Stenger Soccer Complex in Arvada, Colorado.  Five boy’s teams were crowned as “State Presidents Cup Champions” that day.  They join eleven other State Presidents Cup Champions from fall 2013 competition.

Colorado Presidents Cup is the initial step of three for the U13-U17 age/gender groups to vie for a US Youth Soccer National Championship title.  Colorado teams in these age/gender groups have advanced to Region IV competition where they will play other Region IV State Champions. Morgan Hill, California is hosting the tournament during the week of June 9th.  Winners of that competition will advance to represent their State and Region at the National Presidents Cup competition being held in Greenville, South Carolina starting July 10th.

US Youth Soccer Presidents Cup is designed for those teams seeking additional challenges to play against teams of similar abilities for a national title in the U13- U17 age/gender groups.

The U11, U12 and U18 age/gender groups compete for a State Champion title.

US Youth Soccer’s National Presidents Cup provides a progressive, competitive experience to teams that might not otherwise get the opportunity to participate in a series of unique experiences highlighting competition, camaraderie and community from the state to regional to national levels of US Youth Soccer.

Games are structured to provide advancement through flight and “knock-out” round play to identify which two teams will compete in the State Finals for the “State Champion” title.  The 2014 Series competition provided great soccer to the teams, clubs and supporters as of the 16 age/gender groups, 38% of the final matches went in to extended play; 5 of those titles were determined by kicks from the mark!
